Learn how urban planners can leverage the design and analytics capabilities of City Engine to streamline the design possibilities.

Today, buildings and site designs must be designed as an integral part of the urban ecosystem to be considered sustainable. Tools such as CityEngine and ArcGIS help planning and design professionals to quantify the potential cumulative impacts of their designs–not just on neighboring sites, but on entire neighborhoods and districts. Procedural modeling techniques and spatio-temporal analytic tools enable anyone to iteratively test assumptions and view potential impacts while still in the design process.

Case study: GeoDesign Research Study in Manyatta Informal Settlement (Kisumu). The research was undertaken by Etta D. Jackson, Ph. D. in the Manyatta informal settlement, in the Port City of Kisumu, Kenya, East Africa. The overall research project was designed as a dissertation under the auspices of the Graduate School of Leadership and Change at Antioch University and its Institutional Review Board (IRB) Antony Okundi, a graduate of the University of Nairobi in Architecture and Regional Planning, was one of the research assistants on the dissertation research project and did the GeoDesign of Manyatta.
